Challenge

Design and build an effective wastewater treatment plant within a fully operational petrochemical plant on Jurong Island that meets stringent discharge requirements while adhering to strict safety compliance.

Solution

A comprehensive design & build approach that includes lab testing, setting up of site trials, and the implementation of a multi-stage solution integrating different treatment processes.
  • Step 1
    Treatability lab testing with different water samples to compare Plasma-Nanobubbles AOP with other conventional methods. Test results showed that Plasma-Nano AOP was superior to conventional methods in removing all major pollutants, including oil & grease, H2S, Phenol & Ammonia.
  • Step 2
    Deploy a containerised site trial system for one year using Plasma-Nano bubble AOP to ascertain efficacy.
  • Step 3
    Build a Wastewater Treatment Plant with a high-intensity Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) integrated with a multi-stage filtration train that can handle a wastewater capacity of 6,000 m3/d (350 m3/hr), and Onsite re-injection of 1000 m3/d.
