Renewable Energy: Anaerobic Digestor Plant

Achieved a 2.2MW of daily electricity generation (~30,000 m³/day Biogas). 60% of treated effluent is used for on-site recycling, and the sludge after digestion is further processed by composting to produce fertiliser.

Challenge

To retrofit and upgrade the existing Anaerobic Digestor Plant for energy recovery from chicken manure and organic food waste.

Solution

We implemented a comprehensive “treatment train” to transform chicken manure waste into energy (biogas) while ensuring the remaining liquid is polished to meet strict environmental standards.

  • Step 1
    Pre-screening to remove non-digestibles such as plastics, rags, grit, or large fibres.
  • Step 2
    Anaerobic digestion, where microorganisms break down organic matter in an oxygen-free environment to generate Biogas (methane and CO2) for renewable energy and digestate (the nutrient-rich remains).
  • Step 3
    Multi-Disk Screw Press (MDSP) & Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) to dewater the sludge and to remove suspended solids and oils.
  • Step 4
    Ammonia stripping to remove the ammonia gas from the water. The captured ammonia gas is converted into liquid fertiliser.
  • Step 5
    Anoxic/Aerobic/MBR is the final Polishing to remove biological nutrients to finish the job.
