Oil & Gas: Slop and Sludge Wastewater Treatment and Reuse

To design and build a wastewater treatment plant that can handle 250 m3/d of wastewater using Advanced Oxidation Process. The treated wastewater is recycled and reused for on-site process applications.

Challenge

To design and build a Wastewater Treatment Plant in a Petrochemical plant in Batam for the spent caustic plant and recycle the treated water for non-potable use.

Solution

We implemented a multi-stage “treatment train” as gas wastewater is often high in salinity, heavy metals, and stable organic compounds. Our solution combines traditional physical separation with AOP and membrane technologies.

  • Step 1
    Sedimentation & Chemical + Plasma AOP Treatment removes large solids and breaking down complex chemical bonds, hydrocarbons and toxic organic molecules that are otherwise resistant to standard biological treatment.
  • Step 2
    MMF (Multi-Media Filtration) is the secondary treatment or "polishing" stage for suspended solids.
  • Step 3
    ACF (Activated Carbon Filter) to defend against invisible contaminants such as phenols and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Step 4
    BWRO (Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis) to blocks nearly all dissolved salts, minerals, and remaining heavy metals.
